Chapter Bios

Matt Mercereau is the President of the Lake County Pheasants Forever Chapter (IL), one of the fastest growing chapters with a strong dedication to youth events and hunter safety education. Not only is Matt a strong supporter of the Young Guns program through Pheasants Forever, but he aims to bring safe field practices to hunt tests and dog training events as well. Matt is an avid pheasant hunter, with annual trips to South Dakota and daily grinds in the tough grounds of the local Illinois and Wisconsin state parks. He has recently taken dog training to a higher level, competing in UGA events (owns the 3rd Place National Champion Flushing Dog – Male Labrador Retriever “Jake”), as well as training for AKC hunt tests.

Jordan Marcelain is the treasurer of the Lake County Pheasants Forever Chapter (IL) and a member since February, 2013 and joined the club after his first pheasant hunting experience. He is the first person in his immediate family to take an interest in hunting. He enjoyed his first pheasant hunt in 2012 so much, he wanted to get involved with an organization that was committed to getting more people interested in the sport of hunting and conservation, especially at a younger age. Jordan has since become an IL Hunter Education instructor in an effort to give back and help get more people involved in the sport. Jordan enjoys spending time with his wife (Sarah), nephew (Tyler), and niece (Kylie) in the woods or fields hunting deer, upland, and waterfowl. In addition to hunting, Jordan enjoys going fishing and camping with his wife. Jordan and Sarah adopted their first dog in February 2016 and will begin training Molly for hunting.

Doug Magno has been a member of the Lake County Pheasants Forever Chapter (IL) for a year and joined the club after seeing their strong commitment to hunter safety education and their "No Child Left Indoors" philosophy. Doug is an avid pheasant hunter and fly fisherman, and enjoys getting out in the woods with his kids Anthony and Gina. He has recently started to compete in UGA events in the Pointing division with his 7-year-old Brittany spaniel "Nikki". He is also a certified Hunter Safety Instructor with the Illinois Dept. of Conservation and enjoys teaching various Hunter Safety classes throughout Lake, Cook and McHenry counties.
